Wednesday 21st to Friday 23rd November 2018 IoS Bird Sightings
Wednesday’s birds were:
Black-necked Grebe – 3 in Town Bay.
Red-breasted Merganser – 4 females commuting between Town Bay and Porthcressa Bay.
Common Scoter – A drake in Porthcressa Bay.
Black Redstart – 2 on Porthcressa Beach and 2 in a garden on High Lanes.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 on the road from Porthloo Lane to Mount Flaggon. (more…)

Saturday 17th to Tuesday 20th November 2018 IoS Bird Sightings
Saturday’s birds were:
Eastern Yellow Wagtail – 1 still in the horse paddock on Kittydown.
Citrine Wagtail – 1still in the same field as the Eastern Yellow Wagtail
Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 at Newford Duck Pond and 1 on Porthloo Lane.
Mediterranean Gull – 8 in Porthcressa Bay.
Common Gull – 14 at Porthloo.
Pintail – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.
Golden Plover – 3 on the Airfield.
Black Redstart – 3 on Porthcressa. (more…)
Bird Sightings
Thursday 15th and Friday 16th November 2018 IoS Bird Sightings
Thursday’s birds were:
Eastern Yellow Wagtail – The bird found yesterday was in a horse paddock on Kittydown.
Citrine Wagtail – Unbelievably 1 was found in the same field by a local birder looking for the Eastern Yellow Wagtail.
Dusky Warbler – 1 was still at Porth Hellick.
Richard’s Pipit – 1 flew over Porthloo.
Great Shearwater – 2 were seen from a boat on the “Scilly side” of Wolf Rock, i.e. within the Scilly recording area.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 4 Lower Moors and 3 Porth Hellick.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 3 in Lower Moors and 1 at Porth Hellick. (more…)

Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th November 2018 IoS Bird Sightings
Tuesday’s birds were:
Dusky Warbler – 1 still in Lower Moors and 1 perhaps 2 at Porth Hellick.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 4 Lower Moors, 3 Porth Hellick and 2 in the Dump Clump.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 4 Lower Moors and 2 Porth Hellick.
Chiffchaff – An obvious influx with 25 in Lower Moors alone.
Willow Warbler – A late bird in Lower Moors.
Lesser Whitethroat – 2 at Porth Hellick, both thought to be eastern birds.
Cetti’s Warbler – 1 still at Porth Hellick. (more…)

Sunday 11th and Monday 12th November 2018 IoS Bird Sightings
Sunday’s birds were:
Dusky Warbler – 1 still in Lower Moors.
Great White Egret – 1 at Bar Point.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 2 Mount Flaggan Road, 1 Porthloo Lane, 1 Lower Moors and 1 Newford Duck Pond.
Jack Snipe – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.
Red Kite – Still 1 around St. Mary’s.
Black Redstart – At least 6 around Hugh Town Quay and Rat Island.
Whinchat – A very late individual on the Airfield.

Wednesday’s birds were:
Dusky Warbler – Still 1 at Porth Hellick.
Great White Egret – 1 in Newford Duck Pond.
Red Kite – 1 still on St. Mary’s.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 5 on St. Mary’s.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 in the Porth Hellick/Carn Friars area.
Lesser Whitethroat – The ringed bird thought to be an eastern race was still in the Porth Hellick/Carn Friars area.

Dusky Warbler – Still 2 at Porth Hellick and 1 in Lower Moors. Great White Egret – 1 flew over the Strand, Hugh Town towards Porthcressa. Red Kite – 2 on St. Mary’s. Yellow-browed Warbler – 6 on St. Mary’s. Read more…

Monday 5th November 2018 IoS Bird Sightings
Serin – 2 flew over Porthloo Lane and landed in a field at Rosehill.
Red Kite – 1 was seen at various locations around St. Mary’s.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 8 on St. Mary’s.
Short-eared Owl – 1 flew over the Airfield towards Salakee.
Jack Snipe – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Blyth’s Pipit – 1 in the Lunnon Farm cattle field.
Olive-backed Pipit – 1 was still in the dump allotments.
Dusky Warbler – 1 unringed bird at Porth Hellick.
Great White Egret – 1 at New Grimsby, Tresco..
Yellow-browed Warbler – 7 on St. Mary’s.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 3 Porth Hellick.
