St Mary’s – Honey Buzzard flew towards Trewince at 09.35hrs then over Airport Lane at 10.20hrs. Also Cuckoo at Maypole St Agnes – Cuckoo reported today Tresco – Hobby at Gimble Porth today
St Mary’s – Cuckoo at Porth Hellick Downs and Common Scoter (7) still in The Roads Tresco – Swift (4), Blackcap and Sanderling today Bryher – Bar-tailed Godwit on island today

What turned out to be one of the best Mays on record for the islands started off relatively slowly with just a Grasshopper Warbler and Cuckoo of note at Porth Hellick on the 1st. Things started to pick up the next day however when a Shorelark was found on Tresco. This was only the 11th record of this species on the islands and it was not seen again after the 2nd. (more…)
