Thursday 31st July 2014 IoS Bird Sightings

St. Mary’s – A Common Snipe and 20 Greenshanks were on the pool at Porth Hellick. Samson – 50+ Sanderlings. At sea – A Great, a Sooty &20 Manx Shearwaters, 20 European Storm-petrels and 6 Blue Sharks were seen on the evening pelagic trip.

Wednesday 30th July 2014 IoS Bird Sightings

St. Mary’s – A Water Rail & 8 Greenshanks were on the pool at Porth Hellick and nearby a Grasshopper Warbler was trapped and ringed. 2 Mediterranean Gulls (an adult and a juvenile) were at Porthloo. St. Agnes – A Common Sandpiper

St. Mary’s – The Wood Sandpiper was still at Porth Hellick. St. Agnes – 2 Sanderlings and 4 Whimbrels. Gugh – A Common Sandpiper.
