Western Orphean Warbler – 1 still on St. Agnes.

Wilson’s Snipe – The bird thought probably to be this species was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Radde’s Warbler – 1 at Longstone.

American Golden Plover – 1 still on Porth Hellick Beach.

Little Bunting – 1 on St, Agnes.

Leach’s Storm-petrel – 2 on the pelagic trip.

Sabine’s Gull – 1 on the pelagic trip.

Pomarine Skua – 4 on the pelagic trip.

Spotted Crake – 1 still in Lower Moors. (more…)

Monday 16th October 2017 IoS Bird Sightings

A selection from Monday night’s log:

Wilson’s Snipe The bird thought probably to be this species was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Pallas’s Warbler – 1 in the Parsonage, St. Agnes.

American Golden Plover – 1 still on Porth Hellick Beach.

Little Bunting – 1 on St. Agnes.

Leach’s Storm-petrel – 2 in the Roads and one picked up on Periglis, St. Agnes. This a scarce bird on Scilly.

Red-breasted Flycatcher – 2 Watermill.

Hawfinch – 4 at Maypole, 4 at Pelistry and 1 on Tresco.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 5 on St. Mary’s. (more…)

Sunday 15th October 2017 IoS Bird Sightings

Western Orphean Warbler – 1 still on St. Agnes.

Isabelline Wheatear – 1 still on St. Mary’s Airfield.

American Golden Plover – 1 still on Porth Hellick Beach.

Little Bunting – 1 on St, Agnes and 1 Airfield.

Long-tailed Tit – 2 on Pool Road, Tresco. This is a rare bird on Scilly.

Spotted Crake – 1 still in Lower Moors and a new bird at Porth Hellick.

Spoonbill – 2 on Green Island, Samson.

Hawfinch – 8 at Maypole, 7 on Green Farm, 4 the Garrison, 4 on Tresco and 1 on St. Agnes.

Yellow-browed Warbler –11 on St. Mary’s and 1 on St. Agnes.

Firecrest – 4 on St. Mary’s, 1 on Tresco and 1 on St. Agnes.

Lapland Bunting – 1 on the Golf Course. (more…)

Hawfinch – An unprecedented influx with flocks of 50, 30, 30 & 17 around St, Mary’s, 10 Borough Farm, Tresco and 7 on St. Agnes.
