Sooty Shearwater flew past Peninnis Head, a Common Sandpiper was in Lower Moors and a Crossbill was at Longstone

Thursday

Swift were over Old town and the Crossbill was still at Longstone.

The evening pelagic trip 5 miles south of St. Mary’s produced 1 Cory’s Shearwater, 16 Great Shearwater, 6 Wilsons Storm-petrel, about 300 European Storm-petrel, 2 Bluefin Tuna and a Blue Shark.

Friday

At sea a Balearic Shearwater & a Minke Whale were seen on the Scillonian III morning crossing and on the “ Oriole” pelagic trip 6 miles south of St. Mary’s 2 Wilsons Storm-petrel, 80 European Storm-petrel, a Sunfish and a Blue Shark were seen.

Saturday

Green Sandpiper & a Common Sandpiper were on Porth Hellick Pool and 4 Greenshank were on Porth Hellick Beach.

Wilsons Storm-petrel, 40 European Storm- petrel and a Great Skua c3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Sunday

Sooty Shearwater and 2 Great Skua  the last of this year’s  “ Oriole” pelagic trips.

Common Sandpiper, a Dunlin, 2 Swift, 6 Willow Warbler, a Common Whitethroat and a Wheatear were all at Porth Hellick. A Green Sandpiper flew south over Hugh Town Harbour, 3 first-winter Mediterranean Gull were at Pelistry, 30 House Martin were over the Airfield and a Crossbill flew over Trenoweth. 

Whimbrel flew over St. Agnes/Gugh.

Monday

Green Sandpiper were on Porth Hellick Pool, a Snipe & 2 Wheatear were on Peninnis, a Swift was over Old Town and a Yellow-legged Gull was at Porthcressa. A Greenshank & 2 Mediterranean Gull were on St. Martin’s and a Common Sandpiper was on Men-a-vaur. 2 Cory’s Shearwater were seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing and a Common Tern was near Samson.

Birds reported from Tresco were: 2 Whimbrel, 2 Mediterranean Gull, 2 Common Tern, a Hobby and a Crossbill.
