Friday 22nd – The Surf Scoter was still at Porthloo, where the Ring-billed Gull made a brief visit late morning.
A Great Northern Diver was in Hugh Town Harbour and a Little Egret was on Tresco. 120 Sanderling & 30 Ringed Plover (including the colour-ringed German bird) were on Porthloo Beach and on Kittydown a Woodcock was released from a wire fence in which it was tangled up. The 2 Chough were on Peninnis, a Firecrest was at Rosehill and 2 Black Redstart were on Town Beach, 3 were at Little Porth, 2 were at Old Town, 1 was at Carn Leh & 1 was at Porth Mellon.
Saturday 23rd – The Surf Scoter, 50 Black-headed Gull and a Mediterranean Gull were at Porthloo. 2 Great Northern Diver were in Hugh Town Harbour, a Hen Harrier was over Porth Hellick, the 2 Chough were still on Peninnis and a very late Swallow was at the Dump.
Sunday 24th – It was a dry fairly calm day and the Hermit Thrush showed again in the horse paddock at Kittydown. Its appearances seem to be linked to the weather.
A Wigeon & the Surf Scoter were at Porthloo and a Great Northern Diver was in Hugh Town Harbour enjoying a Sunday lunch of Shore Crabs.
An hour’s sea-watch from Peninnis Head produced a Fulmar, a Mediterranean Gull, 100s, perhaps 1000 Kittiwake, 8 Guillemot and 4 Razorbill.
50 Sanderling were on Porth Mellon Beach & 30 were at Porthloo and a Greenshank was at Porthcressa.
The 2 Chough & 2 Skylark were on Peninnis, the Swallow was still at the Dump, 3 Chiffchaff & 4 Blackcap were on the Garrison and a Yellow-browed Warbler was in Lower Moors.
12 Black Redstart were on St. Mary’s, 2 at Porthcressa, 3 on the Garrison, 3 at Porthloo, 2 in Hugh Town, 1 on Peninnis and 1 on Taylor’s Island.
