A selection from Monday’s log call:
Grey-cheeked Thrush – It was still on St. Agnes, still proving to be incredibly elusive, but showing occasionally other than early morning and late afternoon, giving birders from St. Mary’s a chance to catch up with it .
Red-eyed Vireo – 1 still in Apple Tree Glade on Bryher.
Dusky Warbler – 1 in Lower Moors.
Red-throated Pipit – 1 was in the cattle field behind the pine belt between Porth Hellick bank and Salakee down. Remarkably in the same field were 4 Water Pipits, a Rose-coloured Starling and a Serin flew over!
Little Bunting – 1 Porth Mellon and 1 Tresco.
Serin – 1 flew over Salakee.
Great White Egret – 1 on the beaches around Pendrathen then later retuning to Tresco.
Cattle Egret – 2 on Tresco.
Richard’s Pipit – 2 on the Airfield.
Cetti’s Warbler – 1 heard again at Porth Hellick and 1 on St. Agnes..
Water Pipit – 4 Salakee..
Rose-coloured Starling – 1 at Salakee and 1 on St, Agnes.
Lapland Bunting – 1 Bryher.
Wryneck – 1 Porthloo.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 Porth Hellick.
Red-backed Shrike – 1 St. Agnes.
Yellow-browed Warbler – 7 on St. Mary’s and 18 on St. Agnes.
Spoonbill – 3 on Green Island, Samson.
Black Redstart – 9 Porthcressa and 2 on St. Agnes.
Whooper Swan – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Pintail – A female Tresco.
Common Scoter – 2 between Teän and St. Helen’s.
Great Northern Diver – 1 the “ Scilly side “ of Wolf Rock , from the Scillonian III on the crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.
Golden Plover – 3 Airfield.
Whimbrel – 3 Porthloo.
Jack Snipe – 2 Porth Hellick Pool
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Mediterranean Gull – 1 Porthloo, 1 Hugh Town and 5 Bryher.
Long-eared Owl – 1 Lower Moors.
Merlin – 1 or 2 on St. Mary’s, 1 Bryher and 1 St. Agnes.
Jackdaw – 1 flew past Telegraph Tower.
Skylark – 15 on the Airfield and 2 on St. Agnes..
Lesser Whitethroat – 1 on St. Agnes.
Ring Ouzel – 1 Porth Minnick.
Fieldfare – 16 on St. Mary’s, 4 on Gugh and 1 on St. Agnes.
Redwing – 10 on St. Agnes..
Mistle Thrush – 1 High Lanes. And 1 St. Agnes.
Pied Flycatcher – 1 Bryher..
White Wagtail – 2 Lower Moors and 1 Airfield.
Brambling – 1 Lower Moors
Lesser Redpoll – 1 Lower Moors and 1 Bryher..
Reed Bunting – 2 Lower Moors, 1 Airfield and 1 Bryher.
