St. Mary’s – A Purple Heron flew over the airfield, then Porth Hellick, Salakee, Normandy and out to sea. A Wood Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper & a Common Sandpiper were on Porth Hellick Pool and nearby at the ringing station a Grasshopper Warbler was trapped and ringed. 3 Ring Ouzels were on Peninnis and a Great Northern Diver was offshore, 5 Whimbrels and a Bar-tailed Godwit were on Old Town Beach.
Tresco – Scilly’s 5th Red-rumped Swallow of the spring was over the Great Pool. Also on the island were 3 Common Sandpipers, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 4 Ring Ouzels and a late Redwing.
St. Agnes – A Hoopoe and the Purple Heron, seen earlier on St. Mary’s, flew over the island.
Bryher – A Dunlin, a White Wagtail and 2 Ring Ouzels.
St. Martin’s – A Great Northern Diver, 15+ Dunlins, the first Common Swift of the year, a Yellow Wagtail, a Common Whitethroat and a Lesser Redpoll.
Saturday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – A female Little Bittern was found early evening on the Lower Moors Pool. The Wood Sandpiper was still on Porth Hellick Pool, a Tree Pipit was trapped and ringed nearby, 3 Ring Ouzels were on Peninnis, a Whimbrel was on Town Beach and a Pied Flycatcher was on the Garrison.
St. Agnes – The Hoopoe, a Merlin, 20+ Whimbrels and 2 Ring Ouzels.
Bryher – A Long-eared Owl, a Merlin, 2 Tree Pipits, a Black Redstart, 4 Ring Ouzels and a Wood Warbler.
St. Martin’s – 2 Great Northern Divers.
Tresco – A Ring Ouzel.
