Ortolan Bunting – 1 still on Periglis Beach, St. Agnes.        

Roses-coloured Starling – A juvenile was in a bulb field next to Carn Vean Café.

Bluethroat – 1 still in Lower Moors.

Great Wite Egret –  1 on the shore below Troy Town Campsite and 3 on Middle Town Beach, St, Martin’s.

Dotterel –3 still on Castle Down.-

Lapwing – 1 on Simpson’s Field, Tresco.

Golden Plover – 2 flew over Hugh Town at  21:40.

Whimbrel – 2 St. Warna’s Porth, St, Agnes.

Merlin – 1 Chapel Down, St. Martin’s.

Kingfisher – 1 on rocks in Porth Cressa.

Great Spotted woodpecker – 1 in the pines south of Porth Hellick.

Wryneck – 1 still at Porth Wreck.

Firecrest – 2 on the coastal path between Old Town & Giant’s Castle, 1 in the garden of Carn Wethers Guesthouse on Green Farm Lane and 1 near the Seven Stones Inn, St. Martin’s.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 still in the Dump Clump.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 near the Seven Stones Inn, St. Martin’s.

Whinchat – 2 at Carn Friars.

Common Redstart – 1 at Carn Friars and 1 Chapel Down, St. Martin’s.

Yellow Wagtail – 3 at Pelistry Riding Stables.

Grey Wagtail – 1 at Normandy.

Tuesday (24/09)             

PADDYFIELD WARBLER – Unbelievably after last week bird another was trapped and ringed at Porth Hellick.

Great White Egret – 4 on Samson and 1 Appletree Bay, Tresco.

Common Rosefinch – 1 at Porth Wreck and 1 in holy Vale.

Bluethroat – At least 1 was still by the Lower Moors Pool.

Yellow-browed Warbler – The first of the autumn were 3 or 4 on St, Martin’s, 2 on St. Agnes and 1 on Pool Road, Tresco.

Cory’s Shearwater – 15 on the last evening pelagic trip of the year, 8 km south of St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 10 on the last evening pelagic trip.

Balearic Shearwater – 2 on the last evening pelagic trip.

European Storm=petrel – 5 on the last evening pelagic trip.

Great Skua – 3 on  the last evening pelagic trip.

Pomarine Skua – 1 on the last evening pelagic trip.

Arctic Skua – 1 on  the last evening pelagic trip.

Osprey – Still 2 around the islands.

Matsh Harrier – 1 flew behind Gweal Hill, Bryher.

Little Egret – 4 Merrick Island.

Dotterel – 2 on Castle Down, Tresco moving to Shipman Head Down.

Golden Plover – 1 on the Golf Course and 6 Tregarthen Hill, Tresco.

Jack Snipe – 1  at the east end of the Great Pool, Treco.

Curlew Sandpiper – A juvenile at Perrnagie, St. Martin’s.

Purple Sandpiper – 5 on Corregan, Western Rocks.

Whimbrel – 1  flew east over Pool, Road.

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 in Elms west of Newford Duck Pond.

Wryneck – 1 Carn Friars Farm.

Firecrest – 2 Carreg Dhu Gardens, 1 Holy Vale, 1 Tremelethen Farm, 1 in the pines on Porth Hellick Down and 1 in willows behind the cricket pitch pool, St, Martin’s,

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Old Town Lane, 1 in Holy Vale,1 Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors, 2 Helvear and 3 on St. Martin’s.

Common Redstart – 1 Carn Friars Farm and1 near Telegraph and 1 still on Chapel Down, St. Martin’s.

Whinchat – 1 Perpitch, St. Martin’s.

Tree Pipit – 1 Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors and 3 Helvear.

Grey Wagtail – 1 Helvear and 1 Simpson’s Field.

Blue Shark – 1 caught, tagged and released on  the last evening pelagic trip.

Wednesday (25/09)

Western Bonelli’s Warbler – 1 still on Tresco.

Great White Egret – Still 4+ around the islands, at various locations and in varying numbers.

Ortolan Bunting – 1 still at Periglis, St. Agnes.                     

Red-breasted Flycatcher – 1 in the in the shelter bely pines along the path from Porth Hellick to Salakee Down.

Osprey – Still at least 1 on the islands.

Cory’s Shearwater – .17 past Horse Point, St. Agnes in 30 minutes,1 past Peninnis, 13 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 9 on the return sailing.

Great Shearwater – 2 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the afternoon crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance

Great Skua – 1 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the afternoon crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Arctic Skua – 1 harassing Sandwich Terns of Peninnis.

Mediterranean Gull – 20 in Porth Cressa.

Pochard – 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Little Grebe –  21 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pintail – A drake on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Dotterel – 3 on Castle Down, Tresco.

Golden Plover – 8 on the airfield, 2 Chapel Down and 1 on Castle Down, Tresco.

Merlin – 1 on Peninnis.

Kingfisher – 1 on Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors and 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Firecrest – 2 still in Carreg Dhu Gardens, 1 at Trenoweth, 1 Porth Hellick Loop, 1 Tremelethen Farm, 1 in the Parsonage Garden, St. Agnes and  in the pines at Middle Town, St. Martin’s.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 at the Abbey Crossroads and 1 in Apple Tree Glade, Bryher.

Grasshopper Warbler – 1 flushed at Perpitch, St. Martin’s.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 still in the Dump Clump, 1 at Trenoweth and 2 on Bryher.

Spotted Flycatcher – 3 on the Garrison and 2 on Bryher.

Grey Wagtail –2 in a field at Normandy Corner.

Lesser Redpoll – 1 near Troy Town Farm, St. Agnes.

Thursday (26/09)

Spotted Crake – 1 on the western end of the Great Pool, Tresco. (photo).

Great White Egret –  3 roosting on the eastern side of Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Ortolan Bunting – 1 still at Periglis, St. Agnes.

Leach’s Storm-petrel – 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Red-breasted Flycatcher – A very vocal but elusive bird in in willows at the beach end of Porth Hellick.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 still on St. Martin’s along  the track from Church Town Farm Cottages to the school.

Bluethroat – The male was still showing off and  on by Lower Moors Pool.

Osprey – Still at least 1 on the islands.

Dotterel – 3 on Castle Down, Tresco.

Jack Snipe – 1 on the western end of the Great Pool, Tresco.

Golden Plover – 9 Giant’s Castle and 10 on Castle Down, Tresco.

Little Egret  – 5 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Pintail – A drake on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Pochard –  2 drakes on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Cory’s Shearwater – 30 past Giant’s Castle, 4 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 80 on the return trip.

Great Shearwater – 4 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 80 on the return trip.

Sooty Shearwater – 2 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Balearic Shearwater – 1  seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the early evening  crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

European Storm-petrel – 2 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 2 on the return trip.

Great Skua 1  seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the early evening  crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Merlin – 1 over Porth Hellick Down.

Raven – 1 at Carn Vean.

Firecrest – 2 at Salakee Farm, 1 in Carreg Dhu Gardens and 1 in Apple Tree Glade, Bryher.

Spotted Flycatcher – 3 on St. Mary’s and 2 on Bryher.

Pied Flycatcher – 6 on St. Mary’s.

Whinchat – 1 on Bryher.
