Monday (07/04)
Red-rumped Swallow – 2 over the Great Pool, Tresco (photo) and it or another was seen late afternoon over Porth Hellick Pool before flying off towards Carn Friars.
Wryneck – 1 in the gorse at southeast corner of the Garrison playing field (photo).
Hoopoe – 1 on Harry’s Walls, 1 at Trenoweth, 1 in field at Carn Gwaval, 1 at Morning Point on the Garrison, 1 on the west side of Peninnis and 1 on Carn Friars Farm. 2 birds have roosted in a willow tree in a garden at Pilot’s Retreat for the last 2 nights.
Great White Egret – 1 on Town Beach and presumably the same one later in Porth Cressa. On Tresco 1 flew over the Great Pool and landed on the Abbey Pool,
Shoveler – 3 on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Pochard – 6 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Common Sandpiper – 4 on Simpson’s Field, Tresco.
Raven – flew east over the Garrison
Reed Warbler – The first of the year was 1 in full song at the east corner of the Great Pool, Tresco.
Ring Ouzel – 2 on the west side of Peninnis and 1 on the Golf Course.
Common Redstart –2 on St. Agnes.
Black Redstart – 2 at the west end of the Great Pool, Tresco and 2 on St. Agnes.
Tree Pipit – 1 flew north over Telegraph.
Tuesday (08/04)
Hoopoe – 1 on the Garrison Campsite and 1 on the west side of Peninnis.
Great White Egret – 1 at Porth Cressa. And 1 on Tresco.
Pintail – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.
Great Northern Diver – 2 of Cromwell’s Castle, Tresco.
Golden Plover – 1 on Tresco.
Common Sandpiper –3 on Tresco.
Whimbrel – 14 at Pendrathen.
Bar-tailed Godwit – 1 at Pendrathen.
Jack Snipe – 1 was flushed from beside the boardwalk on the Porth Hellick Loop Trail.
Reed Warbler – 1 singing at Porth Hellick Pool.
Grasshopper Warbler – 1 near Normandy Farm
Ring Ouzel – 1 on the Golf Course, 1 Bar Point, 1 on Tresco and 1 on St. Agnes.
Fieldfare – 1 on the Airfield.
Redwing – 1 on Tresco.
Common Redstart – 1 on the Garrison, 4 males on Tresco, 2 on Bryher and 1 on St. Agnes.
Black Redstart – 14+ on St. Mary’s, 15 on Tresco and 15 on St. Agnes.
Pied Flycatcher – 1 on the Golf Course.
Tree Pipit – 2 on Tresco and 1 on St. Agnes.
Brambling – 7 on Tresco.
Wednesday (09/04)
Pallid Swift – A swift species reported over the Blockhouse on Tresco may have been the 1 that showed well for several hours over the Maypole Triangle area (photo).
Hoopoe – 1 feeding in fields on Tremelethen Farm, 1 Porth Hellick and 1 on the path to Castella, St. Agnes.
Purple Heron– 1 flew from Lower Moors towards Old Town.
Night Heron – 1 dropped into Lower Moors at 20:40 and a possible second bird was calling at 20:45.
Common Sandpiper – 3 at Porth Killier, St. Agnes.
Cuckoo – The first of the year was 1 heard calling in Holy Vale and 1 flew past Carn Thomas.
Hawfinch – 1 in a garden in Ennor close, Old Town, it or another in Carreg Dhu Gardens and 1 at Browarth, St. Agnes.
Grasshopper Warbler – 1 reeling in fields south of Longstone.
Ring Ouzel – 1 at Beady Pool, St. Agnes.
Black Redstart – “a few” on beaches around St. Agnes.
Pied Flycatcher – 1 at Porth Killier, St. Agnes.
Lesser Redpoll – 1 with Linnets in fields on Barnaby Lane, St. Agnes.
Tree Pipit – 1 at Tremelethen, 1 opposite the Riding Stables and 1 at Cove Vean, St. Agnes

Thursday (10/04)
Hoopoe – 1 opposite the junction to Airport Lane, 1 at Longstone and 2 on St. Agnes
Night Heron – 1 at Shooter’s Pool, Lower Moors.
Purple Heron – 1 flew over Porth Hellick and appeared to land behind the ringing lanes.
Great White Egret – 1 in Old Town Bay and 1 in Lower Moors.
Hawfinch – 1 still in a garden in Ennor Close, Old Town.
Cuckoo –1 on Peninnis and 1behind the Lifeboat Station in Hugh Town.
Merlin – 1 on Castle Down, Tresco.
Ring Ouzel – 6 on St. Agnes
Common Redstart – 1 between the church and Troy Town, St. Agnes and 1 at Racket Town, Tresco.
Black Redstart – 8 on St. Agnes .
Tree Pipit – 1 flew over Star Castle.
Redpoll – `1 at St. Warna’s Cove, St. Agnes.
Brambling – 1 flew over Wingletang, St. Agnes.
