Black-throated Diver – 1 flew west past Bants Carn towards Samson.
Cattle Egret – 1 with cows opposite Longstone Lodge.
Great White Egret – 1 still in Old Town Bay.
Pink=footed Goose – 8 in a field west of L:ongstone cottage.
Hen Harrier – The female was seen over Longstone Lodge, Tremelethen Farm, over the Airfield and Porth Hellick
Merlin – 1 Old Town. Bay
Great Skua – 1 flew east past Old Town Bay.
Kingfisher – 1 Old Town Bay.
Black Redstart – 3 at Little Porth and 1 on Porth Cressa Beach.
Grey Wagtail – 2 Little Porth.
Monday (23/12)
Cattle Egret – 1 in fields northwest of Longstone Cottage,
Pink-footed Goose – 8 in fields northwest of Longstone Cottage.
Whimbrel – 2 on Porth Cressa Beach.
Firecrest – 1 in the pine belt near Longstone cottage.
Tuesday (24/12)
Velvet Scoter – 1 at New Grimsby, Tresco. After a gap 19 years to the bird seen in late November 2023, this was an unexpected bonus.
Cattle Egret – 1 seen in a few fields with cattle on St. Mary’s.
Pink-footed Goose – 8 still in fields northwest of Longstone Cottage.
Great Northern Diver – 1 in the bat by the Ruin Café on Treco.
Merlin – 1 hunting over Castle Down, Tresco.
Wednesday (25/12)
Cattle Egret – 1 briefly in a field northwest of Longstone Cottage.
Pink-footed Goose – 8 still in fields northwest of Longstone Cottage.
Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 in Longstone Cottage Garden
Firecrest – 1 on Higher Moors near the road and 1 in Longstone Cottage Garden
Thursday (26/12)
Velvet Scoter The adult male was still at New Grimsby, Tresco
Cattle Egret – 1 again in a field northwest of Longstone Cottage.
Great White Egret – 1 at New Grimsby, Tresco.
Pink-footed Goose – 8 still in fields northwest of Longstone Cottage.
Shoveler – The female was still on Shooters’ Pool.
Red-breasted Merganser – 3 at New Grimsby, Tresco.
Black-necked Grebe – 2 by Merrick Island.
Great Northern Diver – 2 off Pelistry Bay, 2 in Town Bay, 1 off Porth Mellon and 17+ in waters around Tresco.
Little Egret – 1 on Toll’s Island.
Whimbrel – 1 Watermill Cove.
Kingfisher – 2 by the Lifeboat Station.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 on Tresco.
Firecrest – 1 on Tresco.
Redwing – 22 on the school playing field, 10 t the bottom of Rocky Hill and 12 in fields at the end of Peninnis.
Humpback Whale – 1 a quarter mile northwest of the Daymark, St. Martin’s
Vagrant Emperor Dragonfly – A very unseasonal record of 1 near a moth trap at Longstone.
Friday (27/12)
PIED CROW – A bird od unknown origin, (probably the one that has been in Cornwall for several weeks) was initially seen around Hugh Town before moving to the Garrison playing field were it gave good views (photo) . It went to root in the large Cypress tree near Hugh house/
Velvet Scoter – The drake was still in New Grimsby Harbour, Tresco.
Cattle Egret – 1 with cattle in a field between the Great Pool and Racket Town, Tresco.
Great white Egret – 1 still at New Grimsby, Tresco.
Great Northern Diver – 7 off Toll’s Island and 1 off the “The Ruin” Beach, Tresco.
Black-throated Diver – 1 off Bant’s Carn and 1 in Great Bay, St. Martin’s.
Pink-footed Goose – The 8 were still in Pelistry fields.
Pochard – A drake was on Porth Hellick Pool.
Marsh Harrier – A female on St. Martin’s.
Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 in the Trench Lane/Standing Stones Field area.
Siberian Chiffchaff – 2 on St. Martin’s.
Firecrest – 1 on St. Martin’s.
Redwing – 70+ in the Carn Gwaval area.
Saturday (28/12)
Pied Crow – It was seen to leave its roost at 08:15 from where it did a loop over Hugh Town and the flew back towards the Garrison but could not be relocated.

Common Scoter – 2 near Samson.
Red-breasted Merganser – 3 off Appletree Bay, Tresco.
Black-necked Grebe – 2 off Anneka’s Quay, Bryher
Barn Owl – The now winter resident flew past Longstone Cottage.
Great Northern Diver – 20 off the Garrison and 2 5 were seen on a trip around Samson and Tresco,
Cattle Egret – 1 still in afield by Pool Road, Tresco.
Spoonbill – 3 on Green Island.
Great White Egret – 1 seen on a trip around Samson and Tresco,
Merlin – A male was seen on a trip around Samson and Tresco,
Yellow-legged Gull – a 3rd year birds seen on a trip around Samson and Tresco,
