Cory’s Shearwater – 1 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Sooty Shearwater – 1 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Manx Shearwater – 150 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Little Egret  – 4 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Hobby – 1 over the airport and the Garrison.

Common Swift – 1 over the estate office on Tresco, was “screaming” a rare observation on Scilly.

 Short-beaked Common Dolphin –  25 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Porbeagle Shark – 1 seen on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Blue Shark – 1 caught, tagged and released  on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Little Egret  – 8 on Tresco

Whimbrel – 1 flew over Church Street, Hugh Town in the evening.

Common Swift  – 1 over Longstone and 3 over Longstone.

Wednesday (17/07)

LARGE TORTOISESHELL BUTTERLY – 1  on the by the road on the trail from Higher Moors to Holy Vale (photo). This a very rare butterfly on Scilly.

Red=backed Shrike – A female was on the airfield.

Hobby – 1 over Higher Moors.

Common Swift – 2 over Higher Moors.

Manx Shearwater – 2000 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock and 150 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Red=backed Shrike – The female was still on the airfield.

Great Northern Diver – 1 of the north end of St. Helen’s.

Sabine’s Gull – 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Little Gull – 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance

Green Sandpiper – 3 Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Sandpiper –1 at Porth Minnick.

Hobby – 1 flew over Hugh Town Harbour toward Porthloo.

Merlin – A female few past Deep Point towards Pelistry.

Short-eared Owl – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Common Swift– 1 over Tremelethen and 2 over Sandy Lane.

 Porbeagle Shark – 1 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Blue Shark – 2  on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Bluefin Tuna  – 30 on an evening pelagic 5 km south west of Bishop Rock.

Friday (19/07)

Little Egret – 3 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Mediterranean Gull – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Yellow-legged Gull – A first-winter bird was on Tresco Heliport.

Cetti’s Warbler – 2 trapped and ringed at Porth Hellick Ringing Station.

Saturday (20/07)

Hobby  – 1 flew east over Abbey Pool, Tresco,

Common Sandpiper  – 1 at Porthloo and 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Yello4-leeged Gull – 1 at Porthloo

Common Swift – 2 over the Great Pool, Tresco.

Mistle Thrush – A juvenile was in a field on Peninnis.

Risso’s Dolphin –  3 south of Deep Point.

Sunday (21/07)

Green Sandpiper – 1 Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Sandpiper – 1 Porth Hellick Pool.

Water Rail – 1 Porth Hellick Pool.

Whimbrel –5 on Tresco

Yellow-legged Gull – 3 on Tresco.

Hobby – 1 flew over the Hugh Town Quay and it or another was over Tresco.

Common Swift – 1 Porth Hellick Pool.

Mistle Thrush – The juvenile was still in a field on Peninnis.
