Bee-eater – 6 late morning around Old Town and Peninnis. They were then seen late afternoon flying over St. Martin’s Vineyard.
Waxwing – A very late bird was near Stinky Porth, Bryher.
Woodchat Shrike – 1 still at Helvear.
Turtle Dove – 1 at Telegraph.
Common Sandpiper – 1 flew over Porth Mellon just after midnight and 1 was on Bryher Pool.
Great Northern Diver – 2 summer=plumage birds off Peninnis Head.
Manx Shearwater – 12 seen from Scillonian III in Scilly waters.
Marsh Harrier – 1 circling high above the hospital.
Hobby – 1 was briefly over the Higher Moors/Porth Hellick area.
Common Swift – 2 over the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors and these or 2 others seen over Content Farm.
.Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Popplestone Fields. Bryher.
Pied Flycatcher – A female was in the pines near the desalination plant at Mount Todden.
Tuesday (07/05)
Eastern Subalpine Warbler – 1 seen briefly at 19:30 in bushes between the hides at Porth Hellick.
Night Heron – 1 flew over St. Mary’s Hall, Hugh town at 21:27.
Ring -tailed Harrier – A bird seen distantly over Halangy Down was probably a Hen Harrier.
Garganey – A pair on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Shoveller – A drake on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Pochard – 2 drakes and a female with 9 very young ducklings on Abbey Pool.
Great Northern Diver – 2 off Peninnis and 5 off St. Martin’s,
Golden Plover – 14 on St. Martin’s.
Common Sandpiper – 1 calling at dusk over the Big Pool, St. Agnes.
Whimbrel – 1 at Porth Thomas and 4 on St.Agnes.
Raven – 2 on St. Martin’s.
Cetti’s Warbler – 1 in the Standing Stones Field, :Lower Moors.
Common Whitethroat – 1 in the Standing Stones Field, :Lower Moors.
Garden Warbler – 1 on Sallyport.
Grasshopper Warber – 1 reeling at the top of Watermill Lane.
Spotted Flycatcher – 1 in Popplestone Fields Bryher.
Wednesday (08/05)
Hen Harrier – 1 over the north end of Tresco.
Garganey – A drake was on Hillside Farm marsh, Bryher.
Golden Oriole – A male was on St. Martin’s.
Great Northern Diver – 1 singing of the coastal side of Green Farm and 1 off the Garrison, 2 off Annet and 4 between Bryher & St. Mary’s.
Purple Sandpiper – 2 on the Western Rocks.
Common Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool and 2 on St. Agnes.
Whimbrel – 1 Little Porth and 5 on St. Agnes.
Hobby – 1 over Longstone.
Cuckoo – 1 at Mount Todden.
Common Swift – 1 over Troy Town, St. Agnes.
Turtle Dove – 1 between Borough Farm and Watermill.
Jackdaw – 2 flew over Kittydown.
Cetti’s Warbler – 2 together in the Standing Stones Field. Lower Moors.
Lesser whitethroat – 1 singing in a field by the Munt Todden track and 1 singing in the Salakee Down fields behind the pine belt.
Black Redstart – 1 on rocks below Peninnis.
Thursday (09/05)
Garganey – 1 at the east end of the Great Pool, Tresco.
Bullfinch – 1 at Burnt Hill, St. Martin’s, this is a rare bird on Scilly.
Golden Plover – 1 above Higher Town, St. Martin’s.
Common Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.
Bar-tailed Godwit – 2 on St. Agnes.
Whimbrel – 1 on Porth Cressa Beach, 15+ on St. Agnes and 4 on St. Martin’s.
Short-eared Owl – 1 Lawrance’s Bay, St. Martin’s.
Hobby – 1 flew north over Rosehill Garden sand it or another seen later over Loer Moors.
Common Swift – 1 Watermill, 1 Porth Hellick, 1 over Lower Moors, 1 over Great Porth Bryher and 1 over Barnaby Lane, St. Agnes
Cuckoo – 1 calling at Watermill, 1 Burnt Rock, St. Agnes and a brown morph female above Higher Town, St. Martin’s.
Raven – 2 Watermill.
Cetti’s Warbler – 1 Lower Moors.
Wood Warbler – 1 by the old school on St. Martin’s.
Black Redstart – 1 at the west end of Hell Bay, Bryher.
Spotted Flycatcher – ! in a field near the municipal dump and on the Garrison, 1 on the Dead Pine Walk & 1 on the west side.
Pied Flycatcher – A female in Holy Vale.
Friday (10/05)
Waxwing – A very late bird was in the Abbey Gardens, Tresco.
Osprey – 1 flew over the north end of Bryher and then over Castle Down, Tresco.
Temminck’s Stint – 1 on the Project Pool (photo).
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on the flooded pool behind Bryher Boatshed (photo) and 1 on the flooded path to the Big Pool, St. Agnes.
Common Sandpiper – 2 Porth Hellick Pool, 1 Butter Porth, St. Martin’s and 1 on Bryher.
Purple Sandpiper – 10+ seen near Annet on an evening boat trip.
Whimbrel – 2 Deep Point and 1 Pentle Bay, Tresco.
Great Northern Diver – 19 seen near Annet on an evening boat trip.
Manx Shearwater – 50+ seen near Annet on an evening boat trip.
Puffin – 30+ seen near Annet on an evening boat trip.
Hobby – 1 St. Martin’s.
Cuckoo – 1 Porth Hellick Loop Trail, 1 Fraggle Rock, Bryher and 1 Tresco.
Wood Warbler – 1 Deep Point.
Spotted Flycatcher – 1 in the Middle Town Pones, St. Martin’s, 1 Dolphin Town, Tresco and 2 on Bryher.
Whinchat – 1 on a barbed wire fence between Middle Town pines and the community hall on St. Martin’s.
Tree Pipit – 3 at Trewince and 2 on Bryher.
Siskin – 1 flew over Apple Tree Glade, Bryher.
Redpoll – 1 flew over Apple Tree Glade, Bryher.
Saturday (11/05)
Osprey – 1 flew north over the Garrison.
Golden Oriole – 1 flew from the pines on Carreg Lane towards Carreg Dhu Gardens and it or another seen later at Longstone Café.
Sort-eared Owl – 1 over the airport at 00:03, so just made it into Saturday.
Great Northern Diver – 2 in Great Porth, Bryher.
Hobby – 1 or more reported from several locations on St. Mary’s
Wood Sandpiper – 1 still on the flood behind Bryher Boatyard and 2 on the flooded area near the Big Pool, St. Agnes.
Common Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool and 1 on the flood behind Bryher Boatyard
Whimbrel – 1 Little Bay, St. Ma0rtin’s and 1 1 flew north over Lower Moors.
Turtle Dove – 1 at Mount Todden Farm flew to Kittydown.
Cuckoo – 1 in Popplestone Fields, Bryher and 1 on chapel Down, St. Martin’s.
Lesser Whitethroat – 1 singing in the pine belt between Longstone Lodge and Sandy L:ane.
Tree Pipit – 1 on Tremelethen Farm.
Yellow Wagtail – 1 on the flood behind Bryher Boatyard.
Sunday (12/05)
Hoopoe – 1 in a newly seeded field at Troy Town, St. Agnes..
Golden Oriole – 1 reported on the Garrison and a female type at Apple Tree Glade, Bryher.
Marsh Harrier – A cream-crowned bird flew over the Great Pool, Tresco. It was later seen over Samson.
Hobby – At least 2 on St. Mary’s.
Short-eared Owl – 1 hunting over the airfield in the evening.
Great Northern Diver – 5 off the Garrison, 1 in Porrh Killier and 16 ( including 4 in summer plumage) seen on the morning Seabird Special.
Pintail – A pair on Porth Hellick.
Knot – 1 in summer plumage on Green Island.
Wood Sandpiper – 1 still on the flooded area near the Big Pool, St. Agnes.
Purple Sandpiper – 2w seen on the morning Seabird Special.
Black-tailed Godwit – 1 on the flooded area near the Big Pool, St. Agnes.
Bar-tailed Godwit – 13 seen on the morning Seabird Special and 2 in Pentle Bay, Tresco.
Cuckoo – 1 on the airfield at the eastern end of the southern runway.
Cetti’s Warbler – 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.
Black Redstart – A female on Porth Minnick.
Spotted Flycatcher – 1 between Longstone and Sandy Lane.
