Glaucous Gull – A juvenile flew over Peninnis towards Old Town.
Cattle Egret – 3 flew from Holy Vale over Longstone and landed amongst the cattle at Trewince, later increasing to 4.
Spoonbill – 1 on Skirt Island, Tresco.
Black Redstart – 2 at Porthloo.
Grey Wagtail – 1 at Porthloo and 1 at Higher Moors.
Tuesday (07/02)
Glaucous Gull – 1 at Porth Hellick.
Cattle Egret – 4 moving about Parting Carn and Trewince.
Merlin – a male in Hugh Town near the church.
Black Redstart – 1 on Bryher and 1 below the Mermaid car park in Hugh Town.
Wednesday (08/02)
Glaucous Gull – A juvenile flew over Peninnis towards Old Town. In the afternoon, what was presumably the same individual flew low along the southside of Samson.
Cattle Egret – 5 flew over Longstone towards Trewince and later 8 at Parting Carn. Have the 4 on Tresco joined the St. Mary’s group?
Spoonbill – 1 on Samson.
Common Scoter – 5 between St. Martin’s and the Eastern Isles.
Mediterranean Gull – 18 at Pendrathen.
Common Gull – 2 at Pendrathen.
Whimbrel – 5 at Innisidgen.
Black Redstart – 1 at Porth Cressa,
Fin Whale – 2 off Peninnis.
Humpback Whale – 1 off Peninnis and later 2 off Deep Point.
Thursday (09/02)
Cattle Egret – 4 at Trewince.
Common Buzzard – 1 still on St. Martin’s.
Purple Sandpiper – 6 on the Gilstone off Old Town.
Woodcock – 7 around Pump Road at dusk.
Fin Whale – 1 near Old Town Bay, off the Gilstone.
Friday (10/02)
Cattle Egret – 6 at Parting Carn.
Great Northern Diver – 6 off Deep Point.
Purple Sandpiper – 6 still on the Gilstone Rock off Old Town.
Common Gull – 2 at Porthloo and 2 Porth Cressa.
Black Redstart – 2 Porthloo.
Saturday (11/02)
Cattle Egret – 9 at Parting Carn which then split with 6 moving to Trewince and 3 staying at Parting Carn.
Glaucous Gull – A first-winter bird flew northeast over Porth Hellick Pool.
Mediterranean Gull – 18 at Pendrethan.
Common Scoter – 5 between St. Martin’s and the Eastern Isles.
Purple Sandpiper – 6 still on the Gilstone Rock off Old Town.
Grey Wagtail – 1 at Porthloo.
Fin Whale – 1 off Peninnis.
Sunday (12/02)
Richard’s Pipit – 1 near the airfield buildings (photo).
Cattle Egret – 2 at Parting Carn and 6 at Trewince.
Spoonbill – 1 still on Samson.
Slavonian Grebe – 2 off the eastern end of St. Martin’s.
Common Scoter – 5 off the eastern end of St. Martin’s.
Golden Plover – 1 flew over Helvear.
Skylark – 8 near the airfield buildings.
