Another unbelievable evening pelagic trip3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock produced a first for Britain in the shape of a ZINO’S PETREL it didn’t hang around for long but every birder on board managed to get views of it. This is an amazing record as the world population is only about 300 birds which all breed on Madeira.

“ Padders” on the trip included a Great Shearwater, 3 Cory’s Shearwater, 350+ European Storm-petrel and 6 Wilson’s Storm-petrel.

Green Sandpiper was at Newford Duck Pond and a Hobby Swift were over Buzza Tower.

Friday

Black Kite first seen over Longstone then drifted around the island, 2 Crossbill were on Sandy Lane and 2 Swift were over Longstone.

A  Cory’s Shearwater was seen from the Scillonian III.

On Tresco 18 Sandwich Tern were on Skirt Island and 2 Mediterranean Gull & 73 Sanderling were on South Beach.
