Wednesday

Red Kite was touring St. Mary’s & another was on Tresco and a Common Buzzard was seen at several locations on St. Mary’s.

Hobby was reported from Hugh Town, Normandy, Garrison and Borough Farm, there were probably 2 birds involved in these sightings, a  Merlin was on the Garrison, a female Kestrel was at Longstone and a Cuckoo was on Kittydown.

Sanderling were on Porth Cressa Beach, a Whimbrel was at Porthloo and Little Ringed Plover  was sound recorded flying north over the Garrison at 00:04, apparently the third such record this month.

Thursday

There was still at least 1 Red Kite around on St. Mary’s, a Common Buzzard was behind St. Lawrence’s Bay on St. Martin’s and a male Ruff flew over Lower Moors.

Golden Oriole was in the horse field at Carn Friars, a Cuckoo was at Watermill and a Grasshopper Warbler was just north of the Dump Clump.

Friday

Short-toed Lark was on Porth Hellick Down and Grasshopper Warbler & a Cetti’s Warbler were still near the Dump Clump. 

There were still at least 2 Red Kite on St. Mary’s, a  Hobby was seen at Porth Hellick & Mount Todden and the ringtail Hen Harrier was on St. Martin’s.

30 Sanderling & 12 Dunlin were on Middle Town Beach, St. Martin’s and 3 Common Sandpiper were at Porth Hellick.

A Turtle Dove was still in the bare field at Longstone/Parting Carn junction and a female type Golden Oriole was at Trenoweth.
