Tuesday
The Lesser Kestrel flew over Lower Moors towards Porth Hellick and was seen later back at Porth Hellick Down. A Merlin was on Porthloo Lane and it or another was on Peninnis.
On Peninnis there was a Hoopoe, a Common Redstart, 3 Ring Ouzel and a Whinchat. Good numbers of Whimbrel were heard flying over Hugh Town in the early hours (00:45-01:00)! and 9 were on Porthloo & 1 was at Porth Hellick in daylight hours. A Black-tailed Godwit & a Common Sandpiper were at Porth Hellick and another Common Sandpiper was at Porth Killier, St. Agnes.
5+ Great Northern Diver were in the Roads and a Red-breasted Merganser was off Middle Town, St. Martin’s.
The Turtle Dove was still in the Golf Course Fields & it or another was again at Longstone late afternoon, Common Swift were over Porth Hellick & Porthloo Lane, and Cuckoo were at Sunnyside, on Peninnis, Porth Minnick, Porthloo Lane & north of Longstone. A Lesser Whitethroat was at Sunnyside, the Cetti’s Warbler was still in the Dump Clump, a Tree Pipit was on Peninnis and Grasshopper Warbler were on Porthloo Lane & Peninnis.
Wednesday
The male Lesser Kestrel was still in the Porth Hellick Down/ Airfield area, a female Common Kestrel was on Peninnis and a female Merlin was on the Golf Course.
6 Great Northern Diver were in the Roads, 3 Black Swan flew east past Samson and 3 Canada Geese flew over Lower Moors.
A Night Heron was flushed from a ditch in Lower Moors and flew towards Shooters’ Pool. 2 Common Sandpiper were at Porth Hellick and a Black-tailed Godwit on the beach there flew off over the airfield and was later seen on Porth Hellick Pool.
The Turtle Dove was still in the Golf Course fields and Cuckoo were still on Peninnis & at Porth Minnick. The Cetti’s Warbler was still by the Dump Clump, a Grasshopper Warbler was reeling at Porth Hellick and 5 Ring Ouzel were below Carn Vean tea rooms & another was on Peninnis.
