Monday – The Lesser Kestrel was still in the Porth Hellick Down, Deep Point area and the 2 Chough were seen flying past Porthloo. 5 Golden Plover, a Merlin & 10 Wheatear were on the Airfield. 2 Manx Shearwater were seen from The Scillonian III, a Great Skua flew past Deep Point and a Black-tailed Godwit was in a field on Peninnis. At Porth Hellick 9 Chiffchaff & a Willow Warbler were trapped and ringed, another Willow Warbler, a Siberian Chiffchaff & a Firecrest were in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors. A Chiffchaff landed on the Scillonian III on its way St. Mary’s and 7 White Wagtail were at Pelistry Riding Stables. A Black Redstart was on the Garrison, 2 male Ring Ouzel were near the airfield turning circle & female was at Carn Morvel below the gold course. A Snow Bunting flew from Peninnis towards the Garrison.
There was late news from St. Martin’s were 2 Slavonian Grebe were seen of Cruthers last week.
Tuesday – The Lesser Kestrel was still in the Porth Hellick Down, Deep Point area and the 2 Chough were seen around St. Mary’s and also on St. Martin’s, where they had been seen on and off in the last few days. Also on St. Martin’s were 4 Grey Plover, a Bar-tailed Godwit, a Merlin, a Sparrowhawk, 9 Fieldfare and 12 Wheatear, there was also a selection of butterflies: Speckled Wood, Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral, Painted Lady and an early Hummingbird Hawk-moth.
2 Wheatear were on the airfield & 2 were at Pelistry & 4 were on Porth Hellick Down, a Merlin was on Porth Hellick Down, 2 Whimbrel were at Pelistry and 4 Golden Plover & a Ring Ouzel were on the airfield. 2 Shelduck were at Porthloo and 2 Great Northern Diver were off the Gannicks with another at Porthloo. There were 2 Willow Warbler at Porth Hellick and there was a small fall of Chiffchaff in the Pelistry area. Single Black Redstart were seen at Porth Hellick Down, the Garrison, the Airfield and Peninnis.
Wednesday – The Lesser Kestrel was commuting between Porth Hellick Down & Salakee Down and the 2 Chough were moving between Giant’s Castle & Porth Hellick Down.
A Rook (a Scilly Scarcity) was on the Garrison, 2 Sandwich Tern were again on buoys in Hugh Town Harbour, 1 was in Porth Cressa and another was near Hats Buoy.
4 Great Northern Diver were off Pendrathen, 3 were off the Gannicks & 1 was in Porthloo. A Jack Snipe was on Porth Hellick Loop, a Black Redstart was at Porthloo and there was a small arrival of Willow Warbler at Porth Hellick with another at Watermill.
Thursday – The Lesser Kestrel a Merlin & the 2 Chough were on Porth Hellick Down and the Rook was still on the Garrison. A male Marsh Harrier was at Porth Hellick, a Sparrowhawk & a Swallow flew over Peninnis Allotments and there were 3 more Swallow in off the sea at Morning Point another 2 Swallow & a Sand Martin flew through Porth Hellick. 15 White Wagtail were on Sandy Lane, there was a small fall of Blackcap at Watermill, the Cetti’s Warbler was still by the Dump Clump, 3 Brambling were in a garden on High Lanes and a Black Redstart was at Pelistry, 1 was at Porthloo & 1 was at Porth Minnick.
