On another wet and windy weekend birds were:
Saturday – The Little Bunting was still in the field opposite the Porth Mellon Industrial Estate and an Eastern type “maskless” Lesser Whitethroat was at Old Town Bay.
2 Shoveler were on Porth Hellick Pool, a female Wigeon was on Shooters’ Pool and 2 Pintail, a Wigeon, a Tufted Duck & a Scaup were on the Great Pool, Tresco. 8 Golden Plover were on the Airfield, 3 Woodcock were at Porth Hellick and 3 Mediterranean Gull were ay Porthcressa. Yellow-browed Warbler were at Sallyport, on Porth Hellick Loop Trail & on Tresco, a Firecrest was at Porth Hellick & 2 were on Tresco and 30 Fieldfare were on the Airfield. 13 Black Redstart were at Porthcressa/Little Porth, 2 were at Porth Hellick, 1 was in the carpark below Tregarthen’s Hotel and 1 was on the Airfield.
Sunday – A Waxwing dropped in behind Carn Thomas. The female Wigeon was in Lower Moors, 5 Golden Plover were on the Airfield and a juvenile Merlin was at Old Town.
Single late Swallow were at Old Town & Little Porth, Yellow-browed Warbler were at Sallyport & Newford Duck Pond, a “Northern Type” Willow Warbler was in Lower Moors and a Firecrest was in Star Castle Garden. 15 Black Redstart were on Tresco,16 were at Porthcressa/Little Porth, 5 were at Old Town Bay, 5 were at Porthloo, 2 were in Hugh Town, 2 were at Carn Thomas and 2 were at Carn Gwaval.
