St. Mary’s – A Short-toed Lark was on the Golf Course briefly, a Richard’s Pipit, a Skylark & 3 Lapland Buntings were on the Airfield and 1 Lapland Bunting was on Peninnis. The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper was still on Porth Hellick Pool and an early Redwing flew over Star Castle. Single Yellow-browed Warblers were at Shooters’ Pool & Pelistry and 6 Firecrests & 4 Whinchats were reported on the island. On the non-birding front a Swallowtail Butterfly was seen flying over Porthloo Beach.
St. Agnes – A Richard’s Pipit, a Knot, a Turtle Dove and 3 Yellow Wagtails.
At sea – Very quiet for birds with just 3 Grey Phalaropes, a Sooty Shearwater, a Great Skua and 1000’s of Gannets. The Gannets were attracted by large numbers (500+?) of Common Dolphins which were chasing fish. A Blue Shark was caught and released.
