Thursday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – A Whinchat was in the Standing Stones Field at Lower Moors and another was on Salakee Down, where there were also 2 Common Whitethroats. 2 Pied Flycatchers were at Porth Hellick House and a third was on Telegraph Road.
At sea – An evening short-range pelagic trip produced 2 Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 300 European Storm-petrels, 10 Great Shearwaters, 9 Cory’s Shearwaters and 6 Blue Sharks
Friday’s birds were:
St. Agnes – A Bonelli’s Warbler sp. was in the fields behind Porth Killier and was later relocated near the Island Hall.
St. Mary’s – 4 Ruff flew over Peninnis towards the Garrison. 5 Pied Flycatchers were on the Garrison and another was at Longstone.
At sea – 2 Great Shearwaters, 6 European Storm-petrels a Sabine’s Gull & 2 Great Skuas were seen from the Scillonian III morning sailing and a Balearic Shearwater & 19 European Storm-petrels were seen from the Scillonian III afternoon sailing. An evening short-range pelagic trip produced a Sooty, 10 Great, 3 Cory’s & 2 Balearic Shearwaters, an Arctic Tern, a Sabine’s Gull, 2 Great Skuas, a Blue Shark, an Ocean Sunfish and a Bluefin Tuna.
Saturday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – A Western Bonelli’s Warbler was in the pine belt between Longstone and Sandy Lane.
St. Agnes – A Hippolais Warbler, thought to be a Melodious Warbler was near the lighthouse.
At sea – The daytime Birder’s Special pelagic trip logged 3 Great & 5 Sooty Shearwaters, a Long-tailed & 2 Great Skuas, 30 Common Dolphins, 20 Harbour Porpoises and an Ocean Sunfish.
Sunday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The Western Bonelli’s Warbler was still in the pine belt between Longstone and Sandy Lane, 2 Pied Flycatchers were at Longstone and a Subalpine Warbler was on the Garrison near Steval.
At sea – Another daytime Birder’s Special pelagic trip produced 5 Great & 4 Sooty Shearwaters, 25 European Storm-petrels, an Arctic, a Great & 2 Long-tailed Skuas, 3 Arctic & 3 Black Terns, 300 Common Dolphins, 5 Blue Sharks and 2 Ocean Sunfish.
