Friday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – A Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshanks & a Kingfisher were at Porth Hellick Pool, 2 Wheatears were at Pelistry and another was at Deep point. 2 Spotted Flycatchers were at Carn Friars Farm & 1 was at Mount Todden and a White Wagtail was at Longstone.
Tresco – 5 Common Scoters and a Knot.
At sea – An evening short-range pelagic trip produced the first Wilson’s Storm-petrel of the year as well as 6 Great Shearwaters, 100+ European Storm-petrels, 10 Great Skuas, 50 Common Dolphins, a Blue Shark and a Porbeagle Shark. This is the latest ever date for the first record of Wilson’s.
Saturday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – 2 Dunlins were at Porthloo.
At sea – Birders on an afternoon short-range pelagic trip saw another Wilson’s Storm-petrel, 50+ European Storm-petrels,14 Great Shearwaters, 4 Sooty Shearwaters, an Arctic Tern, 10 Great Skuas, an adult Pomarine Skua, 50 Common Dolphins, 2 Blue Sharksand an Ocean Sunfish.
Sunday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – 4 Pied Flycatchers were at Content, 3 were at Rocky Hills and 2 were at Longstone. A Green Sandpiper and 10 Greenshanks were on Porth Hellick Pool.
Tresco – A Green Sandpiper and a Common Sandpiper
At sea – A daytime short-range pelagic trip to Seven Stones was very successful. The highlight of the trip was a **FEA’S PETREL** which gave view down to 10 feet as it circled the boat! Also seen on the trip was the third Wilson’s Storm-petrel of the weekend, 9 Great, a Balearic & 4 Sooty Shearwaters, 40+ European Storm-petrels, 2 Great Skuas, a Pomarine Skua, 3 Black Terns, 20+ Bottlenose Dolphin and an Ocean Sunfish.
