Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th August 2015 IoS Bird Sightings

Wednesday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Pectoral Sandpiper was still on Porth Hellick Pool and 4 Mediterranean Gulls were in Porthcressa Bay.

Tresco – 11 Greenshanks, 2 Redshanks, 2 Knots, a Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, a Green Sandpiper and 16 Grey Herons.

Thursday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Pectoral Sandpiper was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

St. Agnes – 3 Sanderlings, 2 Dunlins, a Common Sandpiper, 2 Ringed Plovers, 4 Whimbrels, 15 Curlews and 13 Turnstones.

At sea – Birders on a short-range pelagic trip logged 2 Cory’s Shearwaters, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, 60 European Storm-petrels, 6 Great Skuas, 150 Common Dolphins and a Blue Shark.
