Monday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – Hoopoe – 1 on the Garrison, 1 on Peninnis and 1 Longstones. An immature Spoonbill, a Jack Snipe and 1 or 2 Night Heron sat Lower Moors.
St Agnes – a Hoopoe at Covean.
Tresco – the Black Duck was again on Abbey Pool and a Night Heron was at the east end of the Great Pool.
Tuesday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – an unusual heron was found at Lower Moors at about 20.00 – see photo by Cavill Smith. The bird was then identified by Ashley Fisher as a 1st winter GREAT BLUE HERON!! ! It was then watched by all the resident birders after it flew to Old Town beach and fed in rock pools until dark.
Also today: Hoopoe – 1 on the Garrison, the Long-tailed Duck was in the Harbour again and a Firecrest was at Tremelethen. 2 Night Herons were seen at Lower Moors at dusk.
St Agnes – 3 Hoopoes at Covean and 1 on Gugh.
St Martin’s – 2 Hoopoes.
