Thursday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The first-winter Ring-billed Gull paid a brief visit to Porthloo. 12 Chiffchaffs were trapped and ringed at Porth Hellick, 3 of which were Siberian Chiffchaffs.
Friday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The first-winter Ring-billed Gull was on the airfield.
Saturday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – A Firecrest & a late Willow Warbler were at Newford Duck Pond and a Swallow & an outrageously late Wood Warbler were at Higher Moors.
Sunday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The first-winter Ring-billed Gull was still on the airfield, a late Osprey flew over Watermill and a Black Redstart was on Porthloo Beach.
Tresco – A Dusky Warbler was on Pool Road, the Green-winged Teal was relocated on Abbey Pool, a Bullfinch ( a real Scilly rarity) was at Rowesfield crossroads and a possible Lesser Canada Goose ( thought to be the form Parvipes) was on Abbey Pool. Also on the island were 2 Swallows, 3 Willow Warblers ( 2 possibly of the northern type), a Jack Snipe and a Reed Bunting. A Black-necked Grebe was off Carn Near.
Monday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The first-winter Ring-billed Gull was still on the airfield, a Siberian Chiffchaff and a Willow Warbler were trapped at Porth Hellick, the Willow Warbler was first trapped and ringed on September 18th, perhaps more than a passage migrant, wintering?
Tresco – The Dusky Warbler was still on Pool Road and 2 Black-necked Grebes were off Carn Near.
