Very quiet 3rd and 4th with just a Cuckoo on the Garrison on Wednesday and Siberian Chiffchaff on the Garrison on Thursday.
Fridays birds were:
St. Mary’s – A Tufted Duck at Porth Hellick Pool and a Cuckoo on Porth Hellick Down.
Tresco – 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, 5 Common Terns and 2 Short-eared Owls.
St. Agnes – A Common Swift and a Lesser Whitethroat.
St. Martin’s – 4 Common Terns.
At sea – A European Storm-petrel, 35 Manx Shearwaters and 2 Puffins.
Saturday’s birds were:
Tresco – A Glossy Ibis on Simpson’s Field, a pair of Garganey, 4 Pochards, a Wigeon and 3 Common Sandpipers on the Great Pool. Elsewhere on the island were 6 Whimbrels, a Short-eared Owl and a Cuckoo.
St. Agnes – A Nightingale was singing in the lighthouse garden.
St. Mary’s – A Common Sandpiper and a Cuckoo were at Porth Hellick.
Bryher – 2 Common Sandpipers, a Common Swift and 2 Sand Martin’s the latter being very scarce this spring
Sunday’s birds were:
Tresco – A Black Kite, a Wigeon, 4 Pochards, a Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Buzzards and a Common Swift.
St. Mary’s – A Whinchat was near Bar Point and a Kingfisher flew over Holgate’s Green, Hugh Town.
St. Agnes – A Lesser Whitethroat.
