Purple Heron, Lower Moors, 28.09.13, Kris Webb

St. Mary’sA juvenile Purple Heron toured the island before finally settling at Lower Moors where there were also a Jack Snipe a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Bluethroat. 6 Wrynecks were on the island – 3 in the Porthloo area, 1 at Giant’s Castle, 1 in the pine belt on Porth Hellick Down and 1 on the coastal path near Porth Hellick. The Ortolan Bunting was still at Penninis Head.  A Little Bunting was in fields near Porthloo. Also at Porthloo were 2 Common Sandpipers, a Curlew Sandpiper, a Bar-tailed Godwit and a Turtle Dove. The Ortolan Bunting & Lapland Bunting were still on Peninnis, a Common Redstart was at Lower Moors and a Quail was on the airfield.  A Great Skua was in The Roads.

Tresco – A Ruff and 2 Jack Snipes and 3 Common Redstarts.

St. Agnes – An Aquatic Warbler, a Subalpine Warbler, a Yellow-browed Warbler, a knot and a Buff-breasted Sandpiper.

Bryher – A Little Stint, a Short-eared Owl, a Marsh Harrier and a Wryneck.
