St. Mary’s – The first-winter Bonaparte’s Gull was again in Porthcressa Bay briefly and an American Golden Plover and 2 Whimbrels flew over Hugh Town. The Buff-breasted Sandpiper was still on the airfield and was joined by a juvenile Dotterel. The Lapland Bunting was still on Peninnis and a Wryneck & a Whinchat were on the Garrison, where 2 Bar-tailed Godwits flew over. 2 Kingfishers were in Lower Moors, 3 Spotted Flycatchers were in Holy Vale and 7 Greenshanks & 8 Common Snipe were on Porth Hellick Pool.
St. Agnes – A juvenile Rose-coloured Starling, a Pied Flycatcher and a Turtle Dove.
St. Martin’s – 2 Spotted Flycatchers, a Pied Flycatcher and a Turtle Dove.
Bryher – 2 Whinchats and a Spotted Flycatcher.
At sea – Birds seen on a Seven Stones fishing trip were: a Great Shearwater, 3 Balearic Shearwaters, 15 Sooty Shearwaters, a Leach’s Storm-petrel and an adult Sabine’s Gull, also seen was an Ocean Sunfish.
Birders on the Penzance to St. Mary’s Scillonian morning crossing saw: 20 Balearic Shearwaters, 9 Sooty Shearwaters, a Leach’s & 3 European Storm-petrels, a Grey Phalarope and 2 Ocean Sunfish.
