Birding highlights reported from across the Islands on Monday 3rd October were:

Honey Buzzard – 1 on Tresco
Black Kite – 1 on St. Mary’s
American Golden Plover – 1 on St. Mary’s airfield
Pectoral Sandpiper – 3 Great Pool, Tresco
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – 5 on St. Mary’s airfield
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 in Lower Moors and 1 on the Great Pool Tresco
Wryneck – 2 St. Mary’s and 2 Tresco.
Great Spotted Woodpecker – A female on Porth Hellick Loop
Short-toed Lark – 1 Peninnis and 1 airfield
Black Redstart – 1 Garrison and one at the dump
Yellow-browed Warbler – 2 on St. Agnes
Firecrest – 4 on St. Agnes and 2 at Carreg Dhu Garden
Red-backed Shrike – 1 on Tresco
Common Rosefinch – 1 behind the dump
