Over the last 2 days there has been a large influx of hirundines, especially swallows, some of which, according to our resident ringer are very underweight. They have been picked up of the road, not injured, just exhausted, there was also a smaller influx of Swifts.
St. Mary’s – A female Marsh Harrier, 6 tufted Duck and a White Wagtail at Porth Hellick Pool,nearby 4 summer plumaged Dunlin on the beach. The Woodchat Shrike was still down Pelistry Lane, also a Whitethroat and a Kestrel. 26 Whimbrel were on the Golf Course, a Golden Plover was on the Airfield, a Spotted Flycatcher was in Holy Vale and another was on Peninnis. 308 Shags were off Watermill Cove and Common Sandpiper and a Little Egret were on the beach there. A Willow Warbler was at Lower Moors,
Bryher – A Merlin.
St. Agnes – 2 Whinchat, 2 White Wagtail and 12 Whimbrel.
St. Martin’s – A Spotted Flycatcher, 4 Whimbrel and 60+ Sanderling.
