St Mary’s – **MARSH SANDPIPER** second ever record for Scilly on Porth Hellick Pool in front of stephen Sussex hide and showing well. Still present at dusk. Also Black-tailed Godwit and Ruff. Med Gull (ad and 2 juvs) at Porthloo Beach.
St. Mary’s – Adult Med Gull again at Porthloo Beach. St Martin’s – possible **BLACK-BROWED ALBATROSS** near Seven Stones in the morning and then flying past St. Martin’s towards Round Island in the evening. St Mary’s – Med Gull (ad) still at Porthloo and Black-tailed Godwit at Porth Hellick were the only birds of note today.
There are a few places left on the Birder Special Pelagics this August: August 1st & 2nd – 1 place August 8th & 9th – 1 place August 22nd & 23rd – 7 places visit the Scilly Pelagics website for booking and further details.
St Mary’s – Med Gull (ad) still at Porthloo today. Also Black-tailed Godwit and Green Sandpiper (2) at Porth Hellick Pool. Balearic Shearwater seen from boat 1.5miles off Penninis Head at 16.30hrs.
Scilly Pelagics – *WILSON’S STORM-PETREL* (4) from pelagic 8 miles south of St Mary’s today. Also Great Shearwater (2), Balearic Shearwater, Sooty Shearwater, Manx Shearwater (5), Little Tern and Bonxie. St Mary’s – Med Gull (ad) still at Porthloo this morning.
All of todays birds were at sea. A Great Skua and 100 European Storm-petrels were seen from the Scillonian III morning trip (Penzance to St. Mary’s) and A dark phase Pomarine Skua and 80 European Storm-petrels on the Scillonian III evening trip (St. Mary’s to Penzance).
